Row New York began in 2002 with the simple idea that competitive rowing paired with rigorous academic support for underserved youth could change the trajectory of their teen years and beyond. We have since taught thousands of young people the sport of rowing, and through it the values of tenacity, focus, teamwork, and confidence. Regardless of background or ability, we invite you to come row with us!
Year-round Youth Rowing: Row New York’s core year-round program for youth combines rowing with comprehensive academic support, and prepares middle school and high school girls and boys for success both on and off the water. Tryouts take place in the fall with regattas in both the fall and spring. Our programs are year-round and welcome students from all backgrounds.
Adaptive and Para-Rowing Program: Row New York’s adaptive rowing program provides land-based and on-water workouts for adaptive athletes of all abilities. The program offers all levels of involvement: adaptive athletes can row for recreation, rehabilitation, and competition. Athletes begin the program learning the basics of rowing on ergometers, then move to on-water rowing on stable barges, and for competitive athletes, to rowing shells fitted with pontoons. Our adaptive programming takes place with our experienced coaches on the calm and safe waters of Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.
