The Downtown Giants are pleased to announce that registration is now open for our DTG Cheerleading Program. The cost will be $700 and this will cover your child’s uniform (which they will be able to keep). It will be two uniforms in total. One will be for warm weather and the other will be for colder weather. They will also get two practices a week which will most likely be Tuesday nights at the Battery Park Baseball Fields from 5:30pm-7pm and Thursday nights at Pier 25 from 5:30pm-7:00pm. We will have at least one game per weekend, possibly two, but not mandatory.
We also will try to extend cheerleading to our basketball program which will start in November and go through March with the intentions of entering some competitions down the road. We will also be running a cheer camp which will be free if you are cheering in the Fall. The camp will be from 7/15-7/19 at Chelsea Waterside Park. We we like to take measurements for uniforms that week as well whether you want to attend the camp or not. We will be taking measurements on 7/18 for the uniforms in the Fall. If you cannot make it on 7/18, we will have an alternate date later on in the summer. It does take 4-6 weeks for the uniforms to come in.
As far as coaches go we have two at the moment. One is a mother of three who has 2 boys that play tackle football with us and one daughter who will be part of the cheer squad. She coached in the past in Florida where cheerleading is very popular and will bring plenty of experience to make this a success.
Our other coach just recently graduated from Pace University and was a cheerleader in HS back in California where cheerleading is also very popular. She works with kids now and will be the perfect fit to work with our other coach.
We hope this answers all questions you might have but please feel free to contact Mike Barbieri at firstname.lastname@example.org 347-859-0111 or Coach Dom email@example.com 917-682-0766.
